CareScout Cost of Care Survey 2025
Rates collected from providers nationwide between July and November 2025. Georgia assisted living median about $5,300 a month, against a national median of $6,200.
A Place for Mom, 2026 report
Senior living figures are what residents actually paid on moving in during 2025, across their partner network. Georgia medians: $4,395 assisted living, $5,000 memory care, $2,895 independent living. Home care about $31 an hour, captured in early 2026.
Our $4,300 is a north-metro median of published starting prices. CareScout and A Place for Mom are statewide medians from a provider survey and from partner move-ins. Different places, different methods, and all three are useful. Don't mash them into one "average Atlanta cost" — that number doesn't exist.
Memory care and independent living follow the same rule as everything else here. Memory care usually costs more, for the staffing, the training and the secured building; independent living usually costs less, because the care load is lighter. Staying home vs moving
Agencies don’t publish rates the way communities do, and Georgia doesn’t collect them in one public file. So the hourly rate below is an assumption, not a figure we hold. Drag it to whatever you’ve actually been quoted and watch the monthly number move. For reference, CareScout puts non-medical home care at $35 an hour nationally and A Place for Mom puts Georgia at about $31.

Where the brochure number goes quiet
A starting price is a starting price. Ask these on every tour, and ask for the answers in writing. If they won’t put it in writing, that’s an answer too. You’re allowed to take the sheet home and read it at the kitchen table.
- What does that monthly number include: room, meals, care hours, activities, laundry?
- What triggers a higher care level, and how much does each level add?
- Are there community fees, deposits, or second-person charges?
- How often do rates go up, and how much notice do you give?
- For memory care: is that price for the certified unit, and what changes if her needs rise?

For qualifying veterans and surviving spouses. The amounts change, so check va.gov for the current rate rather than a figure on somebody's blog.

Look at the daily benefit and the elimination period. Many policies cover personal care homes as well as larger communities.
